AOFC and IFF break records

In March six Men’s teams of Asia and Oceania Floorball Confederation (AOFC) take part in the Asia Pacific Floorball Championship (APAC) held in Korea. After a break of four years India is going to appear on an APAC pitch again. That’s why a record amount of teams is playing for the title. Australia, India, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore and Korea are going to compete with each other in Pyeong Taek. In Addition to the men’s APAC there will be a women’s tournament in Korea as well. Japan, Korea and Singapore intend to participate. Follow this link for more information.

The second piece of good news comes from the International Floorball Federation (IFF). 32 nations registered for men’s World Floorball Championship 2010 in Finland. This is a new record, too. For India this is going to be the very first time that they join in a IFF event. They have never played in the A-, B- or C-Divison of a WFC. Malysia has played its last IFF tournament when they were number six of WFC’s C-Division in Spain in 2004. After a absence of several years Belgium is also willing to qualify for WFC.

In North America Canada and the USA are going to fight out, who can travel to Finland in 2010. In Asia and Oceania all the six participants of this years APAC are also willing to play the qualification for WFC2010. Whereas eight European teams are already qualified another 16 teams from the old continent try to get one of the remaining five starting places. There’s a list of all the teams registered for WFC 2010. Follow this link.
